Countdown To Release!







Absurd Area is nearly finished!
The only things left are, possibly, to record my own commentary track, and do one last playthrough pass to make sure everything feels right.
I'll be documenting my playthrough to show off what you can expect to see.
This playthrough, I will be testing one of the challenging achievements - win the game with no more than 15 of the 30 upgrades purchased. It will take some planning ahead of time! Not recommended for a first playthrough!
I will also be testing the 3 new modifiers I added. :)

In Absurd Area, you start with 1 Skill Point, and can choose a free Upgrade to start. Collect the Skills and Talents in your Upgrade, assign your Skill Point, and then you're thrown into the mess!
You start a moderate distance from town; simply follow the path and you will get there eventually. You'll face wandering monsters on the way. In this screenshot, you can see the Brutal modifier at work - when you jump attack, all of your stamina converts to bonus damage. Very good for killing tough enemies... but, of course, now you have no stamina left!
The starting area, the Frigid Forest, has a variety of enemies to entertain you, and a couple of minibosses. One of them can be killed pretty early on for an Objective Point to buy another Upgrade... the other, you will probably need to come back for later.
It's quite a large starting area, with a taste of everything - presents to look for, the entrance to a secret level, even a Bokbok to rescue. You could wander around for a while and just enjoy the vibe before you move on to the town. :)
Of course, you will find your way to the quaint little starting town, where you can find a couple quests, shops, and presents. You will be happy if you explore this area thoroughly before setting out for the rest of your adventure.

As with everything in Absurd Area, the starting quests are just a little bit harder than the original - here you can see the equivalent of the Mickey's Cellar quest, but with a few more rats of a tougher variety thrown in!
