"Absurd Area" is a fan mod for the indie Diablo-for-kids "Loonyland 2." The original can be found here:

This reimagining of the indie classic features:

• An all new upgrade tree system. Choose your own skill path!
• 64 all-new handcrafted maps, for a 50% larger world than Loonyland 2! Does that mean 50% more fun? Play to find out!
• An increase in difficulty, without being expert-only. Defeat powerful enemies and minibosses when you feel you're ready, or risk running past them to steal their treasures!
• A broader selection of monster types. All the monsters from Loonyland 2 are featured, including the arena-only and Madcap-only monsters. Includes 5 brand-new monsters invented just for Absurd Area!
• Loads more equipment and potions lying around for you to find! Poke your nose everywhere!
• Dialogue has been 100% rewritten! Loonyland 2 has never been this Dumb!
• Many of the Quests and quest rewards have been reworked! Doing other peoples' chores is more lucrative than ever!
• Tweaks to the code to improve things you probably won't notice and fix bugs you've never heard of!
• Several secret rooms, 7 secret levels, 5 extra secret challenge areas, 1 Super Secret that you will almost definitely not find on your first playthrough, and a horde of hidden treasures! Compare notes with your friends to find them all!
• 16 new Achievements, 12 all-new Gallery Goals! Brag to your friends that you found them first!
• Hours of fun! Play like a kid again, except you're a grown up now so you can handle a little extra challenge!

Instructions: Extract the zip to your favorite folder and enjoy.

The Docs folder has some readme files. readme.txt discusses controls and basic operation, and is mostly unchanged from the original Loonyland 2 2007 release. AbsurdAreaReadme.txt tells you anything you might need to know about Absurd Area, and there are 3 additional files detailing the Upgrade system and explaining how the obscure systems, Clockwork and Junksmithing, work in Absurd Area.

Absurd Area comes with an option to skip the 80 Achievements that are about "get this Skill to Level 15" or "get this Talent to Level 10." You will be left with 20 Achievements, 2 of which will be needed to unlock each Modifier. To use this option, make a copy of the absurd_achieve.cfg file, and rename it to absurd.cfg. If you have already run the program, absurd.cfg will already exist, so you cannot apply this patch without erasing your progress on unlocking Achievements, Modifiers, and Gallery Goals.
